Emma Roberts, the 14-year-old daughter of Eric Roberts, will star in Nancy Drew: The Mystery in Hollywood Hills for Warner Bros. Pictures and producer Jerry Weintraub. Warners made four "Nancy Drew" movies in the late 1930s, all directed by William Clemens.
The new story about the adventures of Nancy, Bess and George, the characters from the popular Carolyn Keene series was adapted for the big screen by Tiffany Paulsen.
The Mystery in Hollywood Hills, directed by Andrew Fleming (The In-Laws), follows Nancy Drew as she travels to L.A. with her father and stumbles upon evidence involving the long-unsolved death of a glamorous movie star.
Nancy's practical nature and resourcefulness are put to the test when dealing with the self-indulgent world of Hollywood.
Shooting is expected to begin early next year.
