Because Eminem doesn’t make too many public appearances, whenever that happens, the world is watching. So, when he stepped out at the WSJ Innovator Awards in New York a little over a week ago, everyone noticed how different he looked in the face.

Some even suggested that the Detroit rapper, a known drug addict, had relapsed, which would have explained both his haggard and gaunt appearance and the fact that he’d become such a recluse again.

According to a friend speaking to Us Weekly under the cover of anonymity, that’s not the case: fans have nothing to worry about.

He’s not gaunt, he’s fit

According to the friend, those comparing photos of a chubbier, younger Eminem with photos of the Eminem who took to the stage earlier this month to honor his good friends and collaborators Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine are missing a very important detail: Eminem has lost weight.

The rapper isn’t “gaunt and haggard” as tabloid reports would have you believe, he’s actually much skinnier than before, which makes his face look different.

“He jogs and eats well,” the source promises. “He's healthy and happy!”

This should stop those reports saying things like “Eminem doesn’t look like himself anymore” and / or speculation on his renewed drug use. Eminem is, in fact, preparing for the release of a new album, so he has every reason to stay focused and healthy.

Eminem is healthy but still offensive

So, as noted above, the rapper is coming out with a new album, which means that he’s already put out fresh music and has done a few other appearances as well. He might look a bit different than how he did a while back (but who doesn’t change with age?), but one thing about him hasn’t changed: he still manages to offend.

In between this appearance in New York and today, meaning in the span of less than two weeks, the rapper stepped one a lot of toes on at least 2 separate occasions.

One of them was when he released a video for a compilation of freestyle verses with his fellow Shady Records rappers, called “CXVPHER,” and in his verse, Em rapped about punching Lana Del Rey “like Ray Rice,” a reference to the disgraced NFL star who punched his then-fiancée Janay in the face with such brute force she hit her head against an elevator railing and was knocked out for several minutes.

Eminem was probably just tossing words that rhymed when he made the link between Lana and Rice, but the bottom line was that his verse seemed to make a mockery out of domestic violence. So ‘90s of him.

The second time the rapper crossed the line was when he performed at HBO’s Veterans Day Concert, “Concert for Valor,” and he opened his number by wishing people in the audience a “Happy mother[expletive]-ing Veterans Day!”

He also failed to remove the swear words from his songs, which was also deemed a form of disrespecting the occasion he was asked to perform for.
