Eminem’s latest video for the “We Made You” single includes references to Amy Winehouse, among many other stars. However, The Sun says, Em’s rapping “Amy, rehab never looked so good. I can’t wait, I’m going back.” might be just another form of flattery, albeit an out of the ordinary one, as the rapper actually wanted to record a track with Winehouse.

According to the tabloid, while still working on “Relapse,” his comeback album, Eminem was considering doing a track with Winehouse in the manner of “Stan,” which featured vocals from Dido. Not only that, but he even approached the “Rehab” star, it has been claimed, but was turned down because she was focusing on her own career and could not do a collaboration at that moment.

“Amy was flattered by the offer. She loves hip-hop and is a big fan of Eminem. But she didn’t feel it was the right thing to do at the present time. Eminem has followed Amy’s career closely. They have both had drug addiction issues and he empathizes with her and hoped to feature her on Relapse.” an unnamed source says for the British tab.

Despite the refusal, the rapper did not take it personally and was not upset about it, the same spy reveals. Therefore, including Winehouse among the many celebrities that are being satirized in the “We Made You” video could be just a form of flattery, since imitation is generally considered the highest form of flattery known to man.

“His idea was to make a track as magical as ‘Stan.’ But unfortunately Amy declined. He understands that recently she hasn’t been in a state to focus on music because of her tumultuous private life but he hopes they will get together on a future project.” the source further explains. Unfortunately for fans of both artists, the spy fails to make any mention of when said collaboration supposedly takes place, if at all.
