According to Detroit Free Press, a newspaper from his hometown, Eminem decided to retire from touring and making solo albums this fall, concentrating only on discovering and producing other artists, after the Anger Management tour concludes Sept. 17 in Ireland.
"Em has definitely gotten to the level where he feels like he's accomplished everything he can accomplish in rap," rapper Proof told the Detroit paper. "He wants to kick back and get into the producing thing."
Eminem's manager, Paul Rosenberg, stated that the rapper latest album, Encore, was "certainly the cap on this part of his career" and that no official decision was made.
"He didn't want to seem like one of those guys who's playing a trick on his fans, or playing with their heads," Rosenberg told The Detroit Free Press. "It's part of the same struggle he goes through in his music -- 'How much of my inner thinking should I be putting out there?'"
One insider was quoted as "Marshall feels he's said everything he can say as Eminem. The idea that he intended this (Encore>) to be his last record is something that everyone on the inside circle has known for a while."
The final solo appearance of Eminem, the best-selling hip-hop artist ever, would be at a concert in Dublin, Ireland, on Sept. 17, according to Detroit Free Press.
