When Eminem took the stage at this year’s MTV Movie Awards, it was as he had never been away: the energetic performance he put on and the extremely warm public response combined to make his return to the stage one of the hottest moments of the awards ceremony. The rapper performed a medley of “We Made You” and “Crack a Bottle,” both fresh off his latest album, “Relapse,” as MTV can also confirm.

Dressed in a hoodie, with a cap lowered over his eyes and showing no signs of the stress that must be customary before such a major live performance, Eminem greeted the crowd with “Missed me?” as he lift his fist to mark the beginning of the celebrity culture lampoon “We Made You.” In a matter of seconds, the entire audience, fans and stars alike, were on their feet, applauding and dancing like it was 2005 all over again, the last time when the rapper performed on an MTV scene.

“Capping off a stirring comeback five years after his last record, Em took the stage to perform his first two singles off the new album, ‘We Made You’ and ‘Crack a Bottle.’ Dressed in jeans, white sneakers, white hoodie, vest and cap, the rapper stepped down the stage’s staircase and pumped his fist as he launched into ‘We Made You,’ telling the crowd he was ‘back by popular demand.’ Staying behind Em on the steps throughout the performance was a big band that included drums, sax, trumpet and trombone. The crowdmembers immediately came to their feet and it seemed as if Slim Shady had never been away at all.” MTV writes of the performance that kicked off the awards ceremony.

“For the next song, he announced to the crowd that this was ‘the moment you’ve all been waiting for,’ presenting a vigorous version of ‘Crack a Bottle.’ Em stalked around the stage, slapping hands with eager audience members as digital lyrics flashed on and off on the steps behind him.” it is further being said. And, indeed, should the MTV crowd’s reaction be any indication of whether Eminem’s comeback to the music stage has been successful so far, then it’s clear the rapper has another monster hit on his hand with “Relapse.”

Moments later, though, the rapper found himself in what has been labeled the most awkward and outrageous moment of the entire night, when a flying Bruno (British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen) landed on his lap, with his legs wrapped around his head. Eminem immediately got up upset and left the room – which is only understandable given that Cohen was wearing a jockstrap during the skit.

Below is a video of Eminem performing the “We Made You” & “Crack a Bottle” medley. Quality is poor, but good enough to show the world that Eminem is definitely back with a bang.
