Rapper Eminem made a not-so-small fortune over the weekend – and all he had to do was to perform two nights in a row at the British V Festival. Proving that he is, indeed, the King of Hip Hop, Em commanded a $3.3 million paycheck for the two gigs, it has emerged.

On Saturday and Sunday, Eminem took to the stage to perform at the V Festival, much to the delight of the fans here, who hadn’t seen him perform in the UK for ages.

Consequently, he was paid £1 million for each night, meaning, about $3.3 million for a single weekend, The Sun reports.

“The rapper headlined the V Festival in Weston Park, Staffs, on Saturday and Chelmsford, Essex, last night, and pocketed £1 million for each gig,” the British tabloid writes.

Rihanna also joined Eminem on stage for “Love the Way You Lie,” their smashing collaboration of last year. She also performed on her own, but made only half the money the rapper made.

Nevertheless, it was money well spent on part of the organizers, The Sun believes.

“That makes it the most expensive two days in V’s 16-year history. Bosses might struggle to make as much profit as in previous years but they are exactly the sort of acts who should top the bill,” says the tab.

“Marshall Mathers gave the audience just what they wanted, his decade of hits keeping the crowds happy for 90 minutes, especially as he hasn’t played the UK in ages,” The Sun further notes.

An unnamed but reportedly reliable source tells the tab that Em chose playing the festival over doing two concert stadium dates because it’s a more profitable option.

“Eminem is a smart guy. Him and his management know they’ll make cash quicker and without the hassle of organizing and promoting gigs. He has few overheads. He only needs roadies and a DJ,” says the insider.

Just recently, Eminem was also named the King of Hip Hop by Rolling Stone magazine, a title bestowed on him based on several figures, such as Billboard presence, album sales, Grammys, airplay and fans, as we also reported over the weekend.
