I sure have missed Eminem - I really have - and the times when he was in the news twice a day, preferably for his music. I must admit I admired his music and his struggle to overcome his past and his personal demons - and consequently I was thrilled to learn that he is moving on with his troubled love life and is finally dating someone. What's interesting (bizarre, rather) is that the lady he is dating reportedly looks just like his ex-wife Kim Mathers.
The rapper divorced Kim, the mother of his 11-year-old daughter Hailie, for the second time last December and is now said to be involved with Detroit hairdresser turned music studio manager Marni Bright. A source stated for the New York Post newspaper that "Marni works at FBT Studios in Michigan where Eminem records. She is the spitting image of Kim and he is smitten with her. She has dumped her boyfriend, who she has been with for four years to be with him".
Well, that doesn't necessarily have to be bad news, although when something like this happens it's best to ask whether there may be some residual feelings left there - although it has be scientifically proven that every human being has his or her specific "design" in mind according to which they are searching for suitable partners. Maybe it's just a case of science gone right - or maybe not.
Eminem's representative, Dennis Dennehy, confirmed the rapper and Marni know each other but said: "They are not romantically involved". Well, what was he supposed to say? The fact is, Eminem hasn't exactly had a picture-perfect relationship with his ex wife Kim, whom he first married in 1999 and divorced two years later. They remarried in January 2006, but Eminem filed for divorce in April of the same year.
As a change from their first time around the block, in March, the couple reached a court agreement to stop publicly criticizing each other. The agreement to stop making "derogatory, disparaging, inflammatory and otherwise negative comments" was made following a motion filed by the rapper who thus wished to protect his daughter Hailie. Well, considering that Kim was heavily featured in most of the rapper's songs, I do wonder whether singing about Kim qualifies as "public criticizing". We'll see about that - and we'll also see where his new relationship will lead. Stay tuned and we'll bring you any news as soon as it comes out.
