Emily Ratajkowski is the busty model from Robin Thicke’s controversial “Blurred Lines” music video, and she’s now trying to launch her career in movies with a role in David Fincher’s thriller “Gone Girl,” now playing in theaters all over the world.

Unlike many other models trying to make the transition to acting, Emily is doing it with a movie that’s already been billed by critics and fans alike as the “perfect thriller,” an absolute masterpiece the kind only Fincher could have delivered.

She’s fully aware of her immense luck, as her most recent interview can confirm. You will find it embedded below.

Working with two of her favorite movie people, David Fincher and Ben Affleck

Emily has said in previous interviews that she hates labels, particularly when people mention that she’s a model who’s trying to get her acting career off the ground. If she hoped this would stop them from introducing her this way, she was wrong: because she’s relatively new on the scene, the only reference people will know of her is of her appearance in Thicke’s music video.

So this is exactly how the staff on NBC’s The Today Show introduced her, before her chat with Hoda and Kathie Lee.

During the interview, Emily talked about what it was like to land the part that hundreds of young actresses had also auditioned for, that of Nick Dunne’s mistress, and how surprised she was to see Ben Affleck in person at the readings.

Getting to smooch with him for the camera once she got the part was even more unbelievable, Emily laughs.

“The whole experience was a little surreal. I have to be honest. Obviously Ben Affleck is one of those – you know his face. I grew up with his face. Not sure if he would love that. I went into an audition and there’s this really tall handsome guy. And I’m like, ‘Oh my god. That’s Ben Affleck,’” she says.

She calls David Fincher her favorite director, a sentiment millions of fans share, especially after seeing his “Se7en,” “Fight Club” or “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”

“Gone Girl” had excellent first week, is generating major Oscar buzz

With or without Emily, “Gone Girl” would have still been a major hit, and mostly because of director Fincher and his magical way of bringing a story to life on the big screen.

The film is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn and was one of the most anticipated releases of the fall, not only because of its source material but also for the conviction that no other director than Fincher would be able to do it justice.

It turns out that this was true. “Gone Girl” opened on Friday and came out on top at the North American box office, and is expected to continue cashing in for weeks to come. Perhaps even better, it’s already generating some Oscar buzz, with voices online saying Fincher, leading lady Rosamund Pike and OST composer Trent Reznor are sure bets for nominees.

Without a doubt, Emily couldn’t have picked a better film for her acting debut.
