Here’s one more reason to get excited about the planned reboot for “Terminator,” other than the mere fact that it’s happening after all these years. Emilia Clarke, known to fans mostly for her role in HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” has been officially cast as Sarah Connor.

So, Emilia will be taking over from Linda Hamilton in portraying one of the strongest and most determinate women in modern cinematography. We’ll see if she’s up for the challenge but, considering how well she’s fared so far as Daenerys Targaryen on the HBO show, she’s likely to deliver.

Clarke and Brie Larson were the two choices the producers came down to, but it was Emilia whom they eventually signed after a series of screen tests, Deadline reports.

The first “Terminator” film, which will hopefully launch a new trilogy and which is believed to be called “Genesis,” will be directed by Alan Taylor, who worked before with Clarke on a “Game of Thrones” episode. This too is believed to have tipped the scales in her favor.

“Clarke joins Jason Clarke, who is in negotiations to play her son John Connor in a storyline I’ve heard involved a trip into the future. Deadline revealed that he was in talks earlier this week. Arnold Schwarzenegger is also back in his signature cyborg role,” Deadline says.

“Terminator” will be out in the summer of 2015.
