Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, mother of the dragons in HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” might take on evil robots even before she’s done with the Lannisters, because she’s one of the two contenders for the role of Sarah Connor in the upcoming “Terminator” reboot.

Brie Larson is the runner-up, Deadline reports, citing sources well familiar with the situation.

The rumor has been around almost a month now but, since it initially originated from British tabloids, it wasn’t really much to go by. Having a trade publication with a history of breaking this kind of news put its weight behind it means it’s almost certain.

“Both actresses have tested for the producers, and they are the frontrunners. I have heard that Clarke has an edge, and that would not be surprising. Before Taylor helmed Thor: The Dark World, he directed Clarke in HBO’s Game of Thrones,” the report notes.

So, if this is true, Emilia might soon step into the (rather large) shoes of Linda Hamilton. Having seen Emilia in “Game of Thrones,” I have no doubt she will do a fine job.

The “Terminator” reboot will be out in July 2015 and yes, Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back, just like he said he would.
