Before he became the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley sat down for an interview that has emerged just now. He was only 21 and he spoke for the first time of how lonesome he sometimes felt right in the middle of a crowd.

The interview is included on the boxset “The Young Man with the Big Beat,” that arrives in music stores from RCA at the end of the month, and offers a candid look at the life of the superstar before he became that.

Though not heartbroken by any means, Elvis is clearly not happy either: he says he’s looking for love and hopes he’ll one day find the woman that will help him feel less alone in the world, as The Telegraph can confirm.

“Maybe someday I’m going to have a home and a family of my own, and I’m not going to budge from it. I was an only child, but maybe my kids won’t be,” the King muses.

“Am I in love? No. I thought I’ve been in love, but I guess I wasn’t. It just passed over. I guess I haven’t met the girl yet, but I will and I hope it won’t be too long because I get lonesome sometimes,” Elvis adds.

“I get lonesome right in the middle of a crowd, and I get the feeling that with her whoever she may be I won’t be lonesome, no matter where I’ll be,” he further says.

The interview also tackles an issue that will become very controversial in just a short while after it was taken: those infamous moves of his on the stage.

The singer can be heard saying (see the video below as well for it) that, while some artists tap or snap their fingers when they sing, he does a combination of all the known moves.

He doesn’t do it on purpose, he says: he just feels that way.

“I watch the audience and we are getting something out of our system and no one knows what it is. The important thing is we are getting it out of our system and no one is getting hurt,” Elvis explains.
