Russian development studio 1C: Ino-Co and publisher Paradox Interactive have announced that they plan to release an expansion for Elven Legacy, their turn-based strategy videogame released in 2008.

The addition to the videogame is set to arrive sometime during fall and is called Ranger. Apparently, it will only be launched via digital distribution services and will cost 9.99 dollars.

Paradox Interactive has also offered some details related to the expansion. The plot seems to be standard fantasy fare, with a shadowy organization known as The Order of Marcus, which has been dormant for quite some time, preparing for an expansion. One hero, Cornelius, who is known as being a very capable Ranger, is tasked with walking through the world of Illis in order to prepare it for the arrival of The Order of Marcus.

The main change coming to the gameplay of Elven Legacy will be to the rule stating that, in one turn, a unit can only move once and attack once. The new hero, Cornelius, has an enchanted spear with pretty special abilities, making it able to attack once during the turn while also launching a magical ability.

Paradox exemplifies by saying that Cornelius can use the spear to paralyze an enemy unit and then attack it, making sure that it both takes damage and is unable to retaliate.

The Ranger expansion is also set to offer 16 new missions to play through, which is quite a lot given the difficulty level of the game, three new heroes to use, five new unique artifacts, and 12 spells enhancing the power of heroes. As in the initial release of Elven Legacy, the order and the time in which players complete a mission will have an impact on how the game progresses from that point on.
