Samsung is prepping a lot of surprises for the upcoming year

It’s no mystery that 2014 will be the tablet year for Samsung. The Korean tech giant has announced it intends to take down the all-time king of tablets, Apple and its horde of iPads.

Not so long ago Korean media brought forward another report in which Sammy was said to be working on 8-inch and 10-inch tablets with AMOLED screens, destined to be unveiled somewhere in 2014.

The presence of AMOLED screens indicates that these are offerings Samsung plans to unleash in order to toughen the competition with Apple. On top of that Sammy is also rumored to be working on devices with 12.2-inch and 13.3-inch screens.

Now the Zauba website, home to India’s import and export data has spurted out another piece of the puzzle which is Samsung’s tablet domination master plan. A mysterious SM-T331 slate has made an appearance on the site, apparently being sent in the country for R&D purposes.

Before you jump and say this is the low-cost Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, check out the cost per unit approximated at about $500 / €363, so this is going to be a premium device. The Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, on the other hand, is expected to be one of the cheapest slates to be made available in 2014, with an estimated price of about €100 / $136.

So the most likely scenario here is the model turning out to be the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4. How did we jump to that conclusion, you might wonder. Well, the Galax Tab 3 7.0 bears the SM-T210 code, while the Tab 3 8.0 has a bunch of aliases like SM-T310, SM-T311 and SM-T315. The SM-T331 code seems to belong to this category.

The question remains whether this will turn out to be an 8-inch or a 10-inch tablet. A 7-inch model isn’t likely because of the price-tag, so maybe we’re going to end up having a 10-incher with super AMOLED screen.
