Elton John plans a free concert in Rome, just outside the Colosseum, in September, Rome officials said on Friday. The concert will take place on the Via dei Fori Imperiali, on September 3.
Via dei Fori Imperiali, the large boulevard that leads to the Colosseum, is known for its successful concerts. Last year, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel gathered hundreds of fans and the gig was a huge success.
"It will be a great event held in the most charming scenery in the world," Rome Mayor Walter Veltroni declared at a news conference.
"I can't wait to meet my fans in Rome for a unique musical happening," Elton John said in a video broadcast during the conference. "It is so exciting."
