ABC television has agreed for a comedy pilot to be executive produced by Elton John. The British star is now trying his collateral talents.
The sitcom, named "Him and Us", after a song on John's latest album "Peachtree Road", will be about the daily dramas of an aging rock-star, his manager and the rest of his colorful entourage. There is plenty of material for Sir Elton to use, not only from his own experience, but from other peers' lives, such as Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger or Paul McCartney.
The team gathered for the project includes Cindy Chupack, former "Sex and the City" scriptwriter and Michael Edelstein, executive producer of Desperate Housewives. Chupack has earned two Emmy nominations for her work on "Sex and the City".
Sir Elton will also have the support of his long-time partner, David Furnish, a film producer.
Considering the fact that Elton and Furnish will be taking advantage of new British laws and exchange rings in a same-sex marriage this December, the sitcom project could be seen as a new-born of the two.
