Elton John AIDS Foundation has set up a new action for fund raising. Since 1992, when it was created, the foundation amassed more than 60$ million for AIDS education and treatment programs.
This time, money shall be raised from clothes selling. Elton decided to sell for charity reasons more than 10 thousand items out of his impressive "fashion collection". He and his partner, David Furnish, opened a shop - "Elton's Closet" in Rockefeller Center, New York. "The Closet" will stay open for five days.
In the meantime, anyone can come, watch, admire and even buy some of the artist's outfits. Some of them are created in the "fancy-trendy-cool" style, Elton usually prefers, but most of them are really expensive because of the brand name "engraved" on the tag. Others are simply "bargains", everyone can afford.
Elton himself tried to persuade people to buy the stuff he's selling, in an effort to "improve others life". "Come and spend some money to help other people, who desperately need their lives to be changed and improved, and you'll be doing a really good thing.", Sir Elton said, after cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony which took place on April 11th.
You could find in "The Closet" all kinds of clothing articles, with prices ranging from a few bucks to big four-digit scores. For example, a pair of snickers could be available for only 30$. On the other hand, if you want to acquire the pink polka-dot suit, Elton wore when he played with Eminem for 2001 Grammy Awards, you would probably need to make some financial effort.
Anyway, knowing Elton John's dressing-habits, one could definitely provide oneself with the necessary outfit for a fancy-ball after visiting "Elton's Closet"!
