Despite the scandal that forced puppeteer Kevin Clash to leave Sesame Street, Elmo was still part of the official float for Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, as the video above will confirm.

Not only was he there but he also sang and, yes, he was voiced by Clash, who is now being hit with a minor abuse allegations by a former gay lover.

“I’m gonna keep my head up high / Keep on reaching high / Never gonna quit / Just keep getting stronger,” Elmo sang with Big Bird.

“Nothing’s gonna bring us down,” he sang in his solo line, which achieved new meaning in light of the aforementioned scandal.

Considering recent events and the fact that Clash resigned from Sesame Street because of them, having Elmo in the parade was a weird choice from the start. Hearing him sang that line was even more so, voices on Twitter are saying.

What do you think? Should Elmo have been banned from the Parade because of the scandal involving the puppeteer voicing him or is this a tempest in a teacup?
