14 DAY TRIAL // Up until today, most rumors in connection with beloved TV personality Ellen DeGeneres were divorce rumors that had a lot to do with her relationship with actress Portia De Rossi. Time and time again, it was reported that Ellen was breaking up with Portia, that they were struggling, and that Portia was looking to get out of the marriage.
Today, it seems that it is Ellen who’s getting the negative attention. A report from the National Enquirer claims that the famous talk-show host has a serious drinking problem and that her family has been “urging” her to get some help.
Ellen will reportedly drink you under the table, her wife and her mother plan intervention
The report is from an insider who calls Ellen a “big drinker,” which is why Portia De Rossi and Ellen's mother, Betty, have joined efforts to allegedly convince her to stop drinking. The report follows with Ellen's admission that she does have a problem and that she even considered joining up with Alcoholics Anonymous but is afraid that she will be recognized when she begins to attend the meetings.
DeGeneres is famous for her clean-cut image, which is why she landed her Oscar-hosting job that she might repeat again next year. Having people see her attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings would indeed be a huge image blow and one that could potentially cost her her success.
Ellen's drinking only gets worse around the holidays
The same source claims that Ellen will drink just about anything, from wine or beer to hard liquor. They also say that the family is very worried about her wellbeing at this point, with the holidays around the corner, when everyone does a little bit of overindulging.
GossipCop has been the first to step up and deny the rumor, claiming it's all made up and pointing to several other stories they wrote about Ellen in the past year, which turned out to be fake. The site asked one of Ellen's personal friends about the addiction and this friend quickly dismissed it as being completely made up as well as “ridiculous.”
Ellen is, in fact, busy getting ready for the holidays this year in her usual tongue-in-cheek manner. She and Portia De Rossi have recently released this year's Christmas card and they chose to poke fun at Kim Kardashian's famous raunchy photoshoot for Paper Magazine, which was meant to break the internet.
And just yesterday, Ellen also released a mock-trailer in which she poked fun at the upcoming “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie, by taking the place of Dakota Johnson in the role of Anastasia Steele. This too was very well received by fans.
