Ellen DeGeneres’ JC Penney Ad Deemed Offensive, Too Controversial for TV

A new JC Penney ad starring Ellen DeGeneres is out and already getting plenty of negative media attention. According to One Million Moms in particular, it’s so offensive it calls for a total ban of all things JCP.

The ad is above in full. It shows Ellen in full Christmasy attire, having coffee with three of Santa’s elves.

She’s trying to convince them to make more toys, and she eventually succeeds. Towards the end, though, Ellen, perhaps because of the nerves of the negotiations, makes a few “small” jokes, which is precisely what got One Million Moms to rage online.

“Since April, JC Penney's has not aired Ellen DeGeneres in one of their commercials until now. A new JCP ad features Ellen and three elves. JCP has made their choice to offend a huge majority of their customers again. Christians must now vote with their wallets,” a post on the official website reads.

As it turns out, the group is the only one to think that the ad is offensive, because most of those who have seen it online don’t agree.

Check it out for yourself and let me know in the comments section below if you agree with One Million Moms or not.

Pennys, please don't fire Ellen. My wife says she'll never buy your stuff again if you do, and I like your underwear and socks.

Penney's has become something I don't recognize. I am a long-time customer who has taken my business to other dept stores. Having said that, I don't get what is offensive about this ad, (other than being totally stupid and hard to understand the dialogue) but have already made up my mind to shop elsewhere. Penney's doesn't understand basically that their demographic is older, long-time customers, which they have managed to alienate by stopping the coupons, not carrying the brands they used to carry, and their 'in-your-face' catalogues around Mother's and Father's Day. Sorry, Penney's I now shop anywhere but your store, haven't been there since last Christmas! No one I know shops there either, and not because we're all 'homophoic' or any such nonsense, it's just not a store we recognize anymore!

Stupid, stupid, judgmental people. I love the add and proud of JC Penny for putting Ellen in their commercial. Are these people supposed to be Christians? Judge not less you be judged---good grief what is wrong with people.

If you think that is offensive you obviously don't get Christmas, stop wasting your time looking for things to complain about and go help someone.

Ellen is great! Life is too short to complain about trivial things such as this. I love JCP more now than I did before. JCP got rid of the stuff people didn't buy. I think their prices are very reasonable for the quality.
