A new JC Penney ad starring Ellen DeGeneres is out and already getting plenty of negative media attention. According to One Million Moms in particular, it’s so offensive it calls for a total ban of all things JCP.
The ad is above in full. It shows Ellen in full Christmasy attire, having coffee with three of Santa’s elves.
She’s trying to convince them to make more toys, and she eventually succeeds. Towards the end, though, Ellen, perhaps because of the nerves of the negotiations, makes a few “small” jokes, which is precisely what got One Million Moms to rage online.
“Since April, JC Penney's has not aired Ellen DeGeneres in one of their commercials until now. A new JCP ad features Ellen and three elves. JCP has made their choice to offend a huge majority of their customers again. Christians must now vote with their wallets,” a post on the official
website reads.
As it turns out, the group is the only one to think that the ad is offensive, because most of those who have seen it online don’t agree.
