We have been living a lie: Dakota Johnson, daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, isn’t the lead in the upcoming “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie, Ellen DeGeneres is. She’s even got proof, in the form of a new trailer, which you will find embedded below.
Ellen introduced it on her show, recalling how many times she had good roles or cameos in big movies, only to find out producers had cut them out before release. Well, this is one role they can’t edit their way around because she’s playing lead: Ellen is Anastasia Steele in “Fifty Shades.”
The film is based on the first novel in the bestselling adult trilogy by E.L. James, and stars Jamie Dornan as the mysterious, handsome, rich and troubled Christian Grey. Ellen plays Anastasia, an ingénue who crosses paths with Grey by pure chance, and who intrigues him by being more innocent than any other woman he’d met.
Ellen’s Anastasia isn’t just innocent, she’s also quite flirty. It’s true, she could use a bit more practice in that department (her seductive stare is more crazed than anything else), but she’s getting there. Baby steps.
I read all “Fifty Shades” books and I’m 80% convinced that the movie will be a disaster, because of the inferior quality of the source material, which hardly qualifies as literature. If Ellen played Anastasia, I’m positive it would get far better reviews than the “serious” version with Dakota.
Below is Ellen’s trailer parody and the original, so you can compare. Enjoy!
