Report says Dame Elizabeth Taylor left most of her $600+ million fortune to charity

Always one to set an example and inspire others, Dame Elizabeth Taylor continues to be the same champion for charity in death as she was in life. New reports suggest she’s left the bulk of her estate, valued at over $600 million, to charity.

Throughout her life, Taylor was very involved in several charity organizations, even founding two AIDS charities that she fronted until her final hour last week.

A new report in The New York Post says that she made all the arrangements to have most of her estate donated to charity, to the organizations she was involved with in life, including her famous diamond collection.

In 1994, Taylor’s worth was estimated at a little over $600 million, which could mean that she’s now easily worth over $1 billion, given that she continued to be paid top dollar for work even in her last years.

“Screen queen Elizabeth Taylor has left behind a fortune worth at least $600 million, much of which is expected to go to the AIDS charities she championed for decades,” The Post writes.

“Her famous jewelry collection, valued at an eye-popping $150 million in 2002, is likely to be auctioned off with the bulk of the proceeds going to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation and amfAR, the AIDS charity she helped found in 1985, according to WFLD/Fox TV Chicago,” says the same report.

A financial planner known for his work with countless A-listers says for the same publication that, “From what I understand, she seems to have been very wise about her investments,” hinting that Taylor may now be worth more than $600 million.

Of course, as of now, all this is just speculation but, if true, a confirmation should be made soon.

Taylor was laid to rest days ago in a private ceremony to which fans and the media did not have access. A public memorial service will be held at a later date, as we also informed you yesterday.

Since she’s always been a fabulous diva, Liz Taylor gave precise instructions that she be late at her own funeral by exactly 15 minutes – it’s a lady’s prerogative to be fashionable late, after all.
