14 DAY TRIAL // Though she’s an active Twitterer and she keeps her fans updated on everything going on in her life, it would seem that Dame Elizabeth Taylor has been keeping one major secret from them. The 78-year-old actress is engaged to longtime friend and Janet Jackson’s new manager, Jason Winters, with plans to marry soon, Us Magazine says.
This would make Elizabeth’s ninth marriage. Though of a certain age and having seen better days as regards her health, the star is reportedly determined to walk down the aisle again. For the time being, though, the specifics for the upcoming nuptials have not yet been ironed out, but a proposal has been made and accepted, the mag claims, citing sources close to the couple.
“Dame Elizabeth Taylor may soon be walking down the aisle... for the ninth time. A source close to the Oscar-winning actress, 78, tells Us Magazine exclusively that Taylor recently got engaged to Jason Winters, 49, of Sterling Winters Management. Taylor – who now predominantly uses a wheelchair – and Winters – who recently became Janet Jackson’s new manager – have yet to confirm the news,” Us writes. Given Taylor’s eccentric ways, news of a possible upcoming wedding doesn’t seem to take that many by surprise.
“Says another insider: ‘It’s no secret that they’ve been together forever and are in love, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they were engaged. Right now they are keeping it between them.’ In 2007, British papers reported that Taylor and Winters took a romantic vacation together at a Hawaiian resort. Taylor spent ‘the evening caressing the face of [Winters],’ reported the Evening Standard. At the time, the paper quoted a source as saying: ‘She didn’t think she’d fall in love again, but since Jason came into her life that has all changed’,” the report goes on to say.
Elizabeth Taylor last got divorced in 1996, but the signs that she would get hitched again, to Winters this time, have always been there, Us explains. Not only has she repeatedly gushed about how he’s the most wonderful man she’s ever known, but word on the street is he even bought a house for both of them.
