Elizabeth Smart is reliving the ordeal of her kidnapping with the launch of her memoir, “My Story.”

She has appeared in an interview with NBC's Meredith Vieira, and the show will air on Friday. Smart was kidnapped by a couple of religious fanatics when she was just 14 years old, June 5, 2002.

Brian David Mitchell and his wife Wanda Ileen Barzee took her from the bedroom in her family house in Salt Lake City, Utah.

“I didn't feel human,” she recalls.

They held her captive in the woods and treated her like a slave. She was chained to a tree and raped by Mitchell on a daily basis.

“I mean, here I was, a 14-year-old girl, ripped from my family, from the life I knew, from my friends, from the people I loved- being raped every day, not knowing when I'd be able to eat next, not knowing when I'd be able to drink next, and being chained to a tree,” Smart describes.

According to the Daily Mail, Mitchell has been sentenced to life in prison while Barzee has been ordered to serve 15 years.

“To her I was a slave and to him I was an object,” she adds.

She testified at her abductors' trials, where Mitchell pursued an insanity plea.

“I know that you know what you did is wrong. I also want you to know that I have a wonderful life now, that no matter what you do will it affect me again... but in this life or next you will have to be held responsible for those actions and I hope you are ready for when that time comes,” she told him in court.

Now 25-years-old Smart has gotten her college degree and wed boyfriend Matthew Gilmour. She has been giving speeches about her abduction and she is promoting her new book on several outlets.
