14 DAY TRIAL // Joy Behar isn’t the only co-host leaving ABC’s The View. After Behar’s announcement that she would be moving on to greener pastures in August when her contract is up, comes a report saying that Elisabeth Hasselbeck will also be leaving.
It won’t be of her own accord though: she’s been fired, more or less, insiders say for Us Weekly.
After 9 years on the show, ABC bosses have finally realized that some of Hasselbeck’s views simply don’t sit well with audiences at home, the report argues.
“The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing. People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed,” a source says.
According to the spy, Hasselbeck will be out of the picture as early as next season.
However: “Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a valued member of The View and has a long term contract,” says a statement from the producers of the show.
