Less than a week before the Photography Show opens its doors at Birmingham NEC, Swiss lighting equipment manufacturer Elinchrom has officially announced the new ELC Pro HD 500 and ELC Pro HD 1000 compact studio flash heads.

The new ELC Pro HD flash units come with ultra-fast recycling times that range from 0.6s for the ELC 500 J and 1.2s for the ELC 1000 J when shot at full power. Moreover, the two flash heads feature a super-fast flash duration of up to 1/1430 at full power, while at t.05 the values stand at 1/5000s (ELC 500) and 1/5260s (ELC 1000).

Another great feature included with the new ELC flashes is the possibility to see the power in Joules, while all the settings can be easily viewed on the bright OLED screen from the back of the units.

”We set out to make a unit that would not only change the way a photographer works but also the way that they think. We believe the ELC combines everything a photographer needs with everything a photographer wants, plus the consistency and reliability that you expect from Elinchrom,” said Chris Whittle, Elinchrom’s president.

To support that, the new ELC 500 and ELC 1000 come with three new shooting modes: sequence mode, delayed mode, and strobo mode, which will give you alternative solutions for various shooting conditions.

Using the Sequence Mode, you will be able to connect up to 20 ELC flashes and trigger each one of them sequentially, allowing you to capture up to 20 frames per second in burst shooting mode, taking full advantage of your camera’s capabilities.

Delayed Mode offers first or second curtain sync and predictive synchronization, while the Strobo Mode can be used for stroboscopic effects whenever needed.

Elinchrom ELC Pro HD 500/1000 flash heads are now available for pre-order at various authorized dealers at a price of 982.80 CHF / $1,100 / €800 for the ELC 500 and 1,285.20 CHF / $1,450 / €1,050 for the ELC 1000 model.
