14 DAY TRIAL // Elin Nordegren has been keeping a very low profile since her marriage to Tiger Woods crumbled to pieces in what was one of the biggest scandals in sports and which almost cost him his career. This explains why we haven’t heard of her friendship with Lindsey Vonn yet.
Lindsey is Tiger’s current girlfriend and, because he has two children with Elin, the woman the kids spend a lot of time with when they’re not with their mother. Elin and Lindsey initially bonded over the kids, as the former model reached out to the skiing champ in an attempt to get to know her better.
Much to her surprise, she found out she actually liked her, Us Weekly reports, citing sources close to Nordegren. Since then, they have been spending holidays together, with the two girls actually going out together for some fun out on the town.
“You'd think it would be weird, but Elin loves Lindsey and they talk all the time. Elin likes that Lindsey is a strong woman,” says an insider.
“Lindsey is really good for Tiger. She's strong, opinionated, and keeps him in line. Elin found that they are very similar and have a lot in common. They laugh and talk like they have been girlfriends forever,” the tipster adds.
When the girls are away, Tiger is left at home with the kids, but he must surely like the direction this took, especially since his divorce from Elin wasn’t what you might call an amicable one. In fact, considering how he emerged from the scandal as a serial cheater, it’s surprising and admirable that Elin has found it in her to move on for the sake of the kids.
Tiger too has moved on and is said to be a changed man. He and Lindsey went public with their romance in March 2013 when they had already been romantically linked in the press for months. He helped her out after a skiing accident and they became very good friends. Almost without realizing, the friendship turned into something else, they explained when they confirmed the relationship.
Since Tiger’s marriage to Elin ended because of his cheating, there was a lot of talk at the time of whether he would do the same to Lindsey and sleep around whenever he was away on practice or business. Whenever asked, more or less directly, if she feared this would happen to her, Vonn laughed off the insinuation.
