Elin Nordegren breaks her silence almost one year after the Tiger Woods cheating scandal began

Elin Nordegren’s divorce from Tiger Woods was finalized this week, with reports saying she walked away with no less than $100 million in order to stay mum on their life together. Her first and last interview since the scandal broke in November last year is in this week’s issue of People.

For the reported $100 million, Elin reportedly agreed never to talk about her life with the world’s number one golfer, though whether this is truly accurate will probably never be made public.

Judging by her interview with People magazine, it would seem that Tiger has in no way barred Elin from speaking to the media: she just doesn’t want to because she’d rather be a private person.

Because of this, this is her first and last interview since the scandal, in which she talks about Tiger’s affairs, and the subsequent split and hushed divorce.

“I have been through the stages of disbelief and shock, to anger and ultimately grief over the loss of the family I so badly wanted for my children... I also feel stronger than I ever have. I have confidence in my beliefs, my decisions and myself,” Elin says.

What was horrible to bear throughout it all was the idea that she never even suspected Tiger of being unfaithful to her, she says. While she was a stay-at-home mom and wife, he was out cheating on her.

“I’m so embarrassed that I never suspected – not once. For the past 3 1/2 years, when all this was going on, I was home a lot more with pregnancies, then the children and my school,” she says.

While still heartbroken over the divorce, Elin desperately wants to move on from the failed marriage – and the only way she can do so is by focusing on her kids, their well-being and her studies, which she plans to complete.

“My immediate plan is for the kids and me to continue to adjust to our new situation. I am going to keep taking classes [towards a degree in psychology], but my main focus is to try to give myself time to heal,” she explains.

In the same interview, which is not out yet, Elin says that she hasn’t yet come to a point where she can honestly say she’s forgiven Tiger for the wrongs he did to her.

According to the star, forgiveness takes a lot of time; and she’s just not there yet.
