Tiger Woods may have owned up to his infidelities – “transgressions,” as he called them – but that’s not to say a simply public apology will suffice to fix the situation. According to recent reports cited by the New York Daily News, wife Elin Nordegren is still determined to go through with the divorce, but his $300 million Christmas present to her was just the perfect thing to pave the way to an amicable separation.

Reports in the British media say that Woods decided to give Elin what she wanted most as a Christmas present: in this case, the certainty that the two children she has with the golfer would not want for anything as they grow up apart from their natural father. So, while the star had to make do with mailing his kids their presents, he also stuffed his wife’s stocking with a check for $300 million.

She will still divorce him, though. “Tiger Woods’ scorned wife is telling pals that her philandering husband left a cool $300 million in her Christmas stocking – as reporters played a cat-and-mouse game hunting for him in New York Sunday. Elin Nordegren held her head high skiing in the French Alps over the weekend – and a stunning new report reveals why. Asked by pals what her tomcatting hubby got her for the holidays, Nordegren coolly declared, ‘Three hundred million dollars, thank you very much’,” the publication writes of the report now making the rounds.

“She’s 100% determined to split with Tiger. When she boasted of the ‘$300 million Christmas gift’ and then laughed, it was clear to everyone around her that she’s more focused than ever about moving on with her life,” a source is quoted as saying. Moreover, she’s not even letting him see his children right now, until matters are settled. “Elin feels that Tiger isn;t mentally well enough to spend time with her or the kids. Tiger wanted to see them for Christmas, but Elin went away skiing at a secret location in California and then fled to France for more snow and space,” the same tipster says.

Reports surfaced late last year had it that Nordegren was talking to her attorneys to see whether she could get $300 million in a divorce settlement, plus permanent custody of the children. Whether this and the reported Christmas gift are one and the same is not yet mentioned anywhere.
