The animal experienced pain in one of its legs and didn't want to perform a trick

After watching a video showing how an elephant handler working with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus' Red Unit tried to convince one such animal to perform a trick in spite of the fact that the elephant clearly did not want to comply, green oriented organization PETA filed a complaint with the US Department of Agriculture.

These animal rights activists claim that the elephant abused in this video, named Luna, has a long history of problems with one of its legs, this being the reason for which it refused to perform the trick.

However, its trainer used a bullhook in order to get Luna to do the trick.

Interestingly enough, this video was sent to PETA by someone who was part of this show's audience and witnessed the incident up-front.

The video is made available for you down below.
