Element TD is an eight-player Warcraft 3 custom map. Just like others Tower Defense maps, invading hordes of creeps follows a specific path, from the spawning point to the finish. In order to complete the map, you must build towers that will kill the creeps and bring you victory!
The map has 60 levels, and you start with 50 lives. The first level is quite easy, but, as the game advances, they will get more and more difficult, and you will start to leak. If a creep escapes your towers and reaches the exit point, you will lose a life (no matter the level of the enemy).
The interesting and unique thing about this map is that Element TD creates its own world where each invading horde and attacking tower has a specific corresponding element. Every elemental armor takes additional damage from the element preceding it, and retains near-invulnerability from the element following it. Consequently, every tower will deal with damage according to its attack element against the armor one of the invading creeps (if a creep is vulnerable to Light, it will take more damage from Earth-based towers).
Besides the classic Arrow Tower and Cannon Tower, which can each be upgraded 4 times (including one Elemental upgrade), we have a large variety of towers: 6 elemental ones, which can be upgraded to Pure Towers near the end of the game, 15 dual towers, and 20 triple ones. Each tower has its own offensive and support capabilities. As such, you will not find two elemental towers alike.
Element TD also has a unique form of leveling up defensive towers, which will open a door for a new dimension of strategy. Beginning at level 5, and continuing with each of the 5 levels after that, the player can choose an Elemental Guardian to summon. These guardians are the keepers of the secrets of deep and powerful elemental magic, and, when you kill one, it will grant you the use of a specific element. These elements either infuse existing towers with their specific features, or inhabit their own, and by doing so they create simple, dual, or triple towers.
As a player, you have the option to choose the difficulty of the map – very easy, easy, normal, hard, and very hard –, the randomness – allpick, allrandom, same random, and competitive mode –, and the mode – normal, extreme, or chaos.
In order to play this map, you will have to install Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and the Frozen Throne add-on. Furthermore, so as to compete on the battlenet, you need the latest Warcraft 3 patch. Create an account, download the map, place it on the Maps/Download folder, and you are ready to go.
