Video game publisher Electronic Arts has announced that it will shut down its free-to-play and browser-based video game Dragon Age: Legends during June, just a little over one year after the game was first introduced in March 2011.

The company has not said exactly why it was shutting Dragon Age: Legends down, but it apparently has to plans to offer a free downloadable version of the game for those who want to get through the content on their own, without benefitting from the help of their friends.

Presumably, Dragon Age: Legends no longer generates enough revenue to support itself and Electronic Arts and BioWare have other plans when it comes to the promotion of Dragon Age III.

BioWare has recently asked fans of the fantasy series to offer feedback and suggestions to the team, which probably means that we will have an official announcement about the game before the end of 2012.
