Quite a successful move

Electronic Arts is definitely one of the biggest companies in the whole gaming industry, with studios developing titles for every market, be it hardcore or casual. Although the North American company didn't have the best reputation when it came to how it treated its franchises, things are starting to look up, as it started to produce more and more new IPs (Intellectual Properties).

Among them one could count the horror survival shooter Dead Space or the free-running first person game Mirror's Edge, but those aren't the only titles that were developed by EA for this holiday season. As some of you might know, the company partnered with popular toy maker Hasbro in order to produce casual titles based on some of its existing toy lines. As such, games like Littlest Pet Shop, Nerf N-strike or Hasbro Family Game Night have been launched this holiday season.

Now, it seems that this partnership paid off very nicely, as EA has just announced that it sold over 2 million units. Calling these games “hot holiday must-haves”, EA says that more games based on popular Hasbro items will soon appear in order to fully exploit the possibilities of the casual platforms, like the Nintendo Wii.

“By innovating with these family brands and delivering a quality, fun game experience our EA Hasbro video games are something parents and friends can gift with pride this holiday season,” said Chip Lange, vice president and general manager, EA Hasbro. “Our focus on creating audience-appropriate games has paid off with the consumers we wanted to reach and made EA Hasbro titles THE gift to give this holiday.”

Considering the pretty big success that these games have had and the fact that Electronic Arts said on several occasions that it needed to make more games for the Wii or Nintendo DS, we might get to see a lot of other titles with the EA Hasbro label.
