Everybody knows about Electronic Arts' love for
Nintendo Wii consoles recently, but we knew nothing about how close they were to the DS. Apparently, they are pretty close, since the casual label of EA just announced a brand new DS exclusive: Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure.
According to its developers (and the pretty obvious title), the game combines elements from two genres (puzzle and adventure) and makes the mix go casual.
The game also promises to be very humorous, bringing us a quirky, light-hearted character, Henry Hatsworth, based on an indie IP. Taking full advantage of the DS capabilities, players will explore five exotic worlds, fight a variety of opponents and outrageous bosses across more than 30 levels (including about a dozen hidden ones).
"We are excited to bring an indie-inspired new intellectual property to the EA Casual Entertainment Label with Henry Hatsworth that fuses together two styles of gameplay utilizing the two Nintendo DS screens like never before," said Robert Nashak, VP of EA Casual Studios. "The innovative elements of the game have the potential to appeal to both Nintendo enthusiasts and more casual Nintendo DS players."
As I said, the game fully uses the
DS Dual Screen: it brings two separate worlds, one on each screen, having a cause and effect inter-relationship, allowing players to choose when to switch between the action-platformer type of game and the increasingly challenging puzzle world. No matter which one you choose, though, you will gain power-ups, health, and energy to supercharge Hatsworth in his adventure and add to your overall fun.
The game was not yet rated by ESRB or PEGI, although we doubt it will get something higher than E. But we will see for certain when it gets released in early 2009.
