Electronic Arts has revealed further details regarding
Zubo, its upcoming Nintendo DS title, which is created by the Bright Light Studio. The game is aimed at children with ages over 7 and will try to re-design the way kids approach video games.
The game takes place in the 3D rendered world of Zubalon, which is inhabited by the Zubos. In a classic videogame twist, the entire world is being besieged by the villain Big Head, who plans to conquer it all by unleashing an army of Zubo clones, called Zombos.
The player will take on the role of the hero who is destined to defeat Big Head. In the game he has to travel through the world of Zubalon, befriending any of the Zubo creatures he meets along the way. Each of these creatures has different skills that can be used by the player as he battles the forces of evil and in the final fight against Big Head. The player has to evaluate the needs of each of the creatures that he encounters and find out the best way to increase their power and their special abilities.
There will be 55 Zubo characters which can be recruited by the player, with over 100 moves they can perform in battle. The land of Zubalon is made up of 10 different areas, each sporting a different thematic background. The game also offers a wealth of mini-games such as playing a set of drums, navigating a difficult maze, popping a lot of balloons, whack-a-zombie or digging for treasures.
The game will make use of the stylus to control the main hero, with the touchscreen serving as the main hub of the game and with the upper screen of the
Nintendo DS showing the various moves that the Zubos can perform. Currently, the game does not have a release date.
