A weird-looking submarine dubbed the Platypus could soon become available to the public, and odds are that environmentalists will love and adore it.

This is because this submarine, pictured above, moves through the water with the help of two electric motors.

Otherwise put, one doesn't have to worry about contaminating seas and oceans while exploring them.

I'm guessing you've already noticed, but I'll say it anyway: the Platypus does not have its own sealed environment, so those who want to take it out for a spin will have to put on diving gear.

According to Clean Technica, the submarine can carry two people. The lucky riders stay underwater, while the motors remain above sea surface.

The Platypus can reach a top speed of 11.5 miles per hour (18.5 kilometers per hour), and can cover 30 miles (48.4 kilometers) on one charge.
