Nothing like a strange item to get the week started on a high note

Normally, we wouldn't look twice at a water kettle, but this one that designer Di Tao has created is just strange enough to warrant a second look.

Water kettles have been commonplace for, literally, ages. Since before tea was invented really.

This water kettle is unusual because it is electric but cordless (when it isn't placed on the base) and shaped with nothing but right angles.

“This cordless kettle celebrates simplicity: water tank, handle, and power base; all are understated. However, when taken together as a whole, they quietly express the flow of water and power through the elements,” the designer says.

The kettle is made of metal and ceramic and measures 150 mm x 240 mm x 56 mm / 5.90 x 9.44 x 2.20 inches. No price or ETA was mentioned. The designer might not even bother marketing it if there isn't enough interest.
