E-Thrust promises to completely transform commercial aviation

Engineers and scientists with the European aerospace consortium EADS and Rolls-Royce are now working on developing a new aircraft that promises to completely transform commercial aviation.

The aircraft, dubbed E-Thrust, is an airliner that will sport a hybrid electric propulsion system. This means that, rather than running solely on dirty fuels, this aircraft will also use electric energy to power itself.

The people involved in designing and manufacturing the innovative airliner explain that, thanks to its hybrid electric propulsion system, E-Thrust will burn considerable less fuel than conventional aircrafts.

As a result, it will release less emissions into the atmosphere. It will also cause far less noise pollution, sources say.

Should things go as planned, work on this project will come to an end by 2050 at the latest.

Interestingly enough, rumor has it that EADS is also trying to develop an airliner that runs solely on energy provided by solar panels fitted onto its body.
