The developers working on The Elder Scrolls Online at ZeniMax Online and Bethesda announce that another maintenance period for the MMO is now live and that the North American mega-sever has been brought down for the moment.

The team is not saying in the official announcement whether it plans to make any major changes to the title during the coming hours and there’s no estimate when gamers will be once more able to access it.

Earlier during the week, the company delivered patch 1.0.8 for The Elder Scrolls Online, which was designed to eliminate most if not all the bugs that blocked progress through quests.

The European mega-server will also be entering maintenance after the process for the North American one is done.

The Elder Scrolls Online was launched in April of this year for the PC and that means the 30-day subscription included in the retail package has expired for most players.

Bethesda has not yet reported player numbers for the video game so far.

It will also get ports for the Xbox One from Microsoft and PlayStation 4 from Sony, which were delayed into 2015 after being initially planned for this summer.

The game is one of the few high-profile MMOs of the moment that are not using a free-to-play business model.

UPDATE: Maintenance is now complete, Bethesda lists no changes.
