Video game developer ZeniMax Online and publisher Bethesda announce that the North American megaserver for The Elder Scrolls Online is at the moment down for a two-hour-long period of maintenance that is expected to end at 10 AM Eastern Daylight Time.

The two companies say on the official site that during the period, the developers will apply a hotfix that’s needed to improve the overall MMO experience, although they are not yet ready to say exactly what aspect of the title they are improving.

Presumably a list of changes will be offered once the maintenance period for The Elder Scrolls Online is done.

The European megaserver for the MMO has already been down today and should be running normally.

The Elder Scrolls Online was officially launched on the PC on April 4 and should also be delivered on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 during the early weeks of summer.

The game uses a subscription model and some fans have complained that the maintenance periods are too long and tend to detract from the game experience.

The Elder Scrolls Online allows gamers to join one of three powerful alliances that fight each other and the servants of a Daedra in order to control all of Tamriel.
