Telecommunications expert Eircom has just signed a contract worth 100 Million Euro for a new managed services datacenter located in Clonshaugh, Ireland. This new center is alleged to offer
'the most advanced hosting environment in Ireland' and is located in a 125,000 square foot facility.

"To stay competitive in the knowledge economy, Ireland absolutely must have facilities like these that redefine the state-of-the-art for hosting and managed services and provide the capacity for expansion that businesses demand," claimed Cathal Magee, Eircom retail managing director.

The datacenter will open its gates and the network data hose starting July this year. The company hopes to attract both Irish and international customers that are interested in improving their IT Systems management. Eircom will be targeting its datacenter to provide enterprise and business-focused services, and especially managed services solutions. The datatcenter servers will run essential applications that support customer's businesses, such as SAP, or email, databases and transactional systems, among others.

"Business has changed: customers today are far more reliant on their IT systems and their company network to perform vital functions," explained Magee. "Plus, the ICT skills shortage continues to bite. The new Eircom managed services data centre tackles both these realities at once - customers get the ideal environment for their critical systems, as well as access to high-value technical specialists who are skilled at managing the hardware and software that businesses require," he continued.

Upon finalization, the datacenter will be equipped with latest power, cooling, fire suppression and biometric security measures to keep data safe both physically and electronically. Moreover, the computing infrastructure has been designed to minimize power consumption by using the air temperature to complete the cooling process. The whole center will be automatized, including intelligent utilities for systems set-up, monitoring, alert and technical support ticketing.
