An unusual-looking baby goat has been born with eight legs and both male and female reproductive organs on a farm in northeast Croatia.

Farmer Zoran Paparic couldn't believe his eyes when he discovered that his goat Sarka had given birth to the miraculous and rare specimen on his farm in Kutjevo. He literally thought he was seeing double.

“I counted his legs and I thought I was seeing things. Then I called my neighbor to make sure that I am not crazy,” he said. “Everything is double with him.”

Vets believe the extra limbs of the animal are the result of an underdeveloped twin sibling. They are skeptic about its chances of survival, but say that if it survives its first week, the baby goat could live two to three years.

Zoran says the goat also gave birth to two healthy baby goats along with the deformed animal.

“This is the fourth time (she gives birth) and she always has triplets. [The baby goat] is trying to stand on his feet, but lacks strength,” the farmer added.

The rare eight-legged baby has yet to be named, but it was dubbed “octogoat.” The farmer described it as a “miracle of nature,” adding that he would like to keep it as a pet if it survives.
