Eidos is now wholly owned by Square Enix and the company is taking a cold hard look at itself, trying to make the best games it can in order to emphasize that the financial problems had no effect on the quality of the products it puts out.

So, Ian Livingstone, the president of Eidos, says that the decision to delay the new Batman game, called Arkham Asylum, was the right one, as it will allow it to get high review scores and generate a big amount of sales.

He stated that “We're expecting review scores in the 90s and clearly when you have an amazing game like Arkham Asylum, you want to maximise its potential, so we think it's worthwhile going that slightly extra distance to make it the game it has to be.”

The game is set to be out for the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, and statement to its quality is the fact that the cape of the Daek Crusader itself has been worked on by one man for two years, ending up with about 700 game animations and sound effects attached to it.

Another game facing a delay is Championship Manager 2009, which should arrive on July 1 and is expected to do better than Football Manager, the rival game released by Sports Interactive. Sports enthusiasts will not be happy to hear about the delay, but the added quality will satisfy them.

Ian Livingstone is also saying that his company is working on a new Hitman videogame, although he did not reveal other details, and stated that Kane & Lynch were getting another chance to shine on player's screens, even though the first game featuring the characters was not very well received. Apparently, Deus Ex 3 and Thief 4, which are also being worked on, will not be out during 2009.
