No more games bearing the Eidos tag will ever come out again. The company didn't go bankrupt, not even close, it's just that it has been completely assimilated by Square Enix. “From this day forth you shall be known as Square Enix Europe” the Japanese company said and Eidos has complied and become its obedient vassal. The British company was first brought under Square Enix's protective mantle back in March, and now that it has successfully passed its accommodation period, Eidos has been completely assimilated by the larger predator.

“Today marks a major achievement towards the goals we announced in July and represents the creation of an efficient and powerful structure for game development and publishing,” the President and CEO of the newly formed Square Enix Europe, Phil Rogers, added. “We have a formidable product-line up which truly showcases the diversity of our exceptional gaming brands.”

One of its biggest hits must be without a doubt Batman: Arkham Asylum, which has not only managed to win a world record, but has also proven to be a profitable and not just a popular title. The game sold almost two million copies in just a month after its official launch and continued at a steady pace.

Square Enix Europe will be made up of several offices, the company branching out all the way into the UK, Germany and France. As such, they will work together, from the inside of the monster, to spread Cardinal Enix's word into the heathen lands. The trade-off of changing the company's name to that of Square Enix Europe is a bit of a treacherous path.

For a while, gamers will remember and still refer to its products as Eidos games, but, after a while, the name will fade from memory and previous Eidos titles will no longer help promote its new products. Square Enix is not a name to be discarded either, but, considering the huge success that Arkham Asylum alone was, it might have been a better idea to name the company something more in line with The Squares of Eidos.
