The pod is the brainchild of a young lady who is now a student at the School of Visual Arts in New York, US

If we're gonna be honest here, it must be said that, in this day and age, plenty of people have serious trouble finding time to be alone with themselves and their thoughts, be it for just 5 minutes or so.

Phones are forever ringing, friends and colleagues always have something to share with us, and work isn't exactly a walk in the park on a bright, sunshiny day either.

Hoping to help folks take a break from their day to day life, Eden Lew, a student at the School of Visual Arts in New York, created an egg-shaped pod that she says is perfect to take a nap or simply relax without having anyone stare at you.

Still, it's safe to assume that pretty much anybody who would hide inside such a pod in public would be intensely stared at. The thing is that, thanks to the pod, they would never know it.

The device, photos of which are included in the gallery below, is dubbed the Nutshell. Apparently, Eden Lew sees it more like a nut and less like an egg. Then again, everybody is entitled to their opinion, so let's not contradict her.

Interestingly enough, the student imagines people not just sleeping and meditating inside her pod, but also enjoying lunch, maybe even getting some work done without getting distracted, Metro informs.

“As a student I’m always looking for the quickest meal to avoid stopping my work. I decided that if I’m going to spend five minutes or less eating a lunch, then I might as well use that five minutes to take a mental break.”

“Thus the Nutshell was created to block out distractions and to focus on eating and thinking,” Eden Lew commented on this little project of hers in a little interview.
