The two leading vendors of netbook computer systems, Acer and ASUS are expected to enter a new battle, following the much anticipated release of an upcoming ASUS product, the EeeBox PC B208. As stated in previous articles, the new nettop has been designed to combine one of Intel's low-power Atom processors with an integrated ATI Radeon HD 4530 graphics chip, consequently enabling the end-user to take advantage of a small-sized PC that also offers support for playing HD content. The Eee PC B208 could become a competitor for Acer's AspireRevo, which is based on NVIDIA's ION platform.

According to a recent article on French-language Blogeee, said nettop could become available to customers sometime in June this year, providing the market with an alternative to the newly launched AspireRevo. According to the technical sheet of the upcoming EeeBox, ASUS has managed to combine a dual-core Atom 330 processor with the ATI Radeon HD 4350 graphics solution, with 256MB of DDR2 memory. This appears to be the most significant change to the Eee PC line of Atom-powered netbooks.

Additionally, the system is equipped with 1GB of DDR2 memory, a high-capacity 320GB SATA II hard drive, multi-in-one card readers, wireless 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, four USB 2.0 ports and even an HDMI port, powered by the integrated ATI Radeon graphics. The system is rated at a weight of just 1kg and also comes with a remote control, and a built-in battery that is said to function as a UPS.

The Taiwanese company could enable its customers to upgrade the memory from 1GB to 2GB, but that remains to be seen, when the system becomes available, possibly in June, in time for the Computex show. Unfortunately, at this time, we have no details on the system's pricing.
