It seems that people in China are going to be the first to benefit from an ASUS Eee Box launch, according to sources cited by Digitimes. The highly anticipated and mediated low-priced ASUS desktop computer system will hit shelves in Hong Kong before other locations, once with the official release, which will take place today.

ASUS' Eee Box will come to round up the company's Eee family, which has achieved worldwide popularity because of the Eee PC. However, unlike the netbook system, the new Eee Box has been designed to be more of a stationary computer system. Even so, its size and overall weight make it quite high on portability features, so it should easily come in handy to any home user who does not need a high-performance computer system. In fact, all of the current Eee products are designed to provide the very basics, but with the use of some of the latest things in computer technology.

The initial model will be dubbed B202 and, as expected, will feature an Intel Atom processor which will provide the computer system with a maximum CPU speed of 1.6GHz. The B202 model will also include 1GB of DDR2 memory and 80GB hard drive, which will be more than enough to accommodate the Linux operating system. ASUS will probably release a Windows version as well but, for the moment, no details regarding such an action are available.

Support for a Gigabit and 802.11b/g/n Internet connection will be included, and Bluetooth is probably going to be enabled on some of the other models. Fans will be able to choose from a range of four colors for the chassis of their Eee Box, namely white, black, cherry red and green.

According to the sources, the B202 is said to consume 20W per hour and will be smaller than an A4 sheet of paper. The price tag of this low-power computer system is HK$2500, which is roughly about US$320.
