Edward Snowden, the man who has recently leaked unknown details about the NSA’s PRISM program, believes the US is hacking “everyone,” despite the many complaints about foreign cybercriminals targeting US organizations.

When asked about what he thinks about the Obama administration’s protests regarding the cyberattacks from China, Snowden said, “We hack everyone everywhere. We like to make a distinction between us and the others.”

He added, “But we are in almost every country in the world. We are not at war with these countries.”

The whistleblower believes that it’s difficult for users to protect themselves against state surveillance considering that “the extent of their capabilities is horrifying.”

“We can plant bugs in machines. Once you go on the network, I can identify your machine. You will never be safe whatever protections you put in place,” Snowden noted.
