Picnik users, or perhaps refugees, are more than welcome

Aviary has debuted its first Facebook app, aptly named Aviary for Facebook. In essence, it's the regular Aviary Embeddable editor, which has recently been updated. The big news though is that it's now integrated with Facebook, meaning that you can edit all of your Facebook photos without leaving the site.

At the same time, you can upload new photos to Facebook via the app to make sure you get a chance to do some touch apps, or apply one of the 10 built-in effects.

"Our editor includes 10 gorgeous photo effects, 20 infinitely reusable stickers, and 10 single-click image editing tools that will let you fix your photos quickly and effectively. Oh, and did we mention that it’s free?," Aviary announced.

Aviary users won't find anything particularly surprising about the new app. What new users should know is that the Aviary app enables them to do three main things.

For one, they edit their photos, crop them, enhance colors, adjust brightness and so on. Second, they can add all manners of fun stickers to the photos before saving them to Facebook. Finally, they can enhance their photos with the 10 effects.

With the launch of the Facebook app, Aviary is also wasting no time in poaching soon-to-be former Picnik users. The Google-owned photo-editing app is shutting down soon and its users aren't happy about it.

While the Aviary app is not on par with Picnik, it  already offers much of the functionality. What's more, it's only going to get better, plus it's going to be around six months from now, unlike Picnik.

"We know that your very first question is going to be how this experience will compare to Picnik. The short answer is that we already offer most of the features you know and love," Aviary wrote.

"The slightly longer answer is that we’re releasing updates all the time – with performance improvements, fancy new tools, and tons of effects and stickers – and that we’d love to hear from you what else we can do to help," it said.
