They are “happy and working on their new VH1 series,” says rep

Late last week, word got out in the tabloids that Eddie Cibrian had had it with LeAnn Rimes and her “psychotic” and super controlling ways, and had decided to divorce her soon. None of that is true, his rep says in a statement.

Eddie and LeAnn got together while working on a TV film, despite the fact that they were both married to other people and happily so, as far as the media knew. They were married as well shortly afterwards, but never ceased being tabloid fodder for their personal life.

Insiders told the tabs this time that Cibrian wanted out of the marriage because she’d started acting crazier than usual, and would file for divorce right after they were done shooting for their new reality series, which LeAnn recently described as “script-ality.”

As it turns out, someone spoke out of line because there’s no truth to the report. “There is no truth whatsoever to the Star article. Eddie and LeAnn are happy and working on their new VH1 series and having a great life together,” Cibrian’s rep says for StarPulse.

Moreover, Eddie himself has been talking to the press in a bid to dispel the rumors. He claims the reality show will finally set the record straight after years of malicious gossip.

“[The rumors] have been going on for so long. They’re just absurd, and to give any validity to any of these things, it’s crazy… We have such a great marriage, very functional and we just decided to do a show to screw that all up,” he says for Entertainment Tonight.

Some might point out how odd it is that the divorce rumors popped up just in time for them to issue denials and “casually” mention the VH1 series. Some might be skeptics at heart, but that doesn’t change the fact that this is actually a common practice with celebrities: plant a rumor in the tabs to give you something to talk about and, in the process, promote whatever new project you have coming out.

If other celebrities are doing it, chances are LeAnn and Eddie are also doing it.
