Serbian startup Strawberry Energy is all about making clean energy more appealing to the general public, and raising awareness of the importance to curb the use of fossil fuels.

To this end, the company has developed public solar charging stations which it calls Strawberry Trees, and which it says make it possible for people to charge their gadgets on the go without having to pay anything to do so.

In some cases, it can happen that these innovative stations also provide people with access to free Wifi, the people behind this project explain.

Together with the solar chargers pictured above, the company has also developed slightly smaller ones, which it calls Strawberry Mini and Mini Rural, and which it claims are perfect for festivals and other gatherings, and for use in rural areas, respectively.

According to Tree Hugger, the Serbian startup has until now installed a total of 12 Strawberry Trees in Europe. Of these, ten sit in Serbia, and two are located in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The good news is that Strawberry Energy is looking to expand its business agenda, and is now in talks to have such public solar charging stations set in place in the United States.

Thus, it would appear that the company has signed a distribution agreement with 3efficient Energy of California, which means that it might be only a matter of time until Strawberry Trees pop up in this part of the world.
